first of all, way back in the moutains, 

우선, 아주 깊은 산속에서 살았어요.

and we only got to go to town every once in a while

우리는 가끔씩만 마을에 갈 수 있었죠.

But every time we would, there was this woman that was the town trash whore 

그런데 마을에 갈 때마다 항상 보이는 한 여자가 있었어요. 마을 사람들이 그녀를 쓰레기 같은 창녀라고 불렀죠.

I thought she was beautiful. I didn't know what any of that meant.

하지만 제 눈에는 그녀가 너무 아름다웠어요. 그 말이 무슨 뜻인지도 몰랐어요.

And I would just see this woman with this yellow hair piled on her head a bright red lipstick, 

그저 노란 머리를 높이 틀어 올리고, 선명한 빨간 립스틱을 바르고,

red nails high-heeled shoes.

빨간 손톱에 높은 하이힐을 신은 그녀를 보면서,

And I thought she was the prettiest thing I've ever seen.

세상에서 가장 예쁜 사람이라고 생각했어요.

And I used to say to my mama she's so pretty.

그래서 엄마한테 말했죠. "엄마, 저 언니 너무 예뻐."

Mama said, she just trash.

그때 엄마는 단호하게 말했어요. "걔는 그냥 쓰레기야."

And I thought to myself. That's what I want to be.

그 말을 들으면서 속으로 생각했어요. '그래, 저게 내가 되고 싶은 모습이야.'

When I grew up is trash

어른이 되면 쓰레기가 되는 것 이었어요.

that was a word for how she looked and that was how to look

그건(trash 라는 단어가) 그녀의 외모를 표현하는 말이었고, 그게 제가 되고 싶은 모습이었어요.

So I grew up to look just like her.

그리고 저는 자라서 그녀와 똑같이 보이게 되었어요.
